The Memory Collector

Everyone collects something right? It may be baseball cards, hats, or some other type of sports memorabilia. Even if you dont consider yourself a collector of anything, you may be and dont even know it. How about the collection of tools in the cellar you dont really use, but you have to have them! Even maybe all those movies laying around you no longer watch, sounds like a collection to me.

Wedding glasses used for toasting may be given out when the toastmaster initiates the toasting series. He or she may either signal the waitresses to serve the glasses already filled with either champagne or the special wine or give the signal to the servers to serve wine or champagne on the wedding glasses that are already placed on the table for this special event. More often than not, these wedding glasses are engraved with the day and date and time of the wedding as well as the name of the newlyweds together along with a special message. These glasses are taken back home by the guests as remembrance of the special day and as keepsakes. One idea for groomsmen gifts is the Swiss army knife. At some point during your day, you are probably wishing you had a screwdriver handy or pocketknife to open a box or even a pair of tweezers to pull out a paper clip out of your computer keyboard. A Swiss army knife makes for great groomsmen gifts because first of all, they are cool. And secondly, there are useful and practical. This idea for groomsmen gifts also has a universal appeal and could be given to all of your groomsmen. Plus, you can make it extra special by having it personalized with some type of engraving.I have searched the internet to find the reasons why others collect shot glasses. This quote was found on a personal site of an obvious diehard Hard Rock Caf shot glass collector; My goal is to display each of the shot glasses that have been available over the years from The Hard Rock Cafes and The Hard Rock Hotel. Needless to say, the man(or woman) has their work cut out for them to complete that collection.Perhaps, instead of tangible groomsmen gifts, you can plan the ultimate guy trip. An offshore fishing trip or a camping trip might be fun and a great last hurrah for you, one last guy thing before getting hitched. Commemorate that last hurrah with a personalized engraved compass for each of your groomsmen.

I am sure it is clear to you by now that the reasons why people collect many times are very different. They range from being a simple hobby, all the way to self preservation. Sometimes people collections end up in museums after they have past on. The Smithsonian Institution is living proof of that. So no matter what it is you collect just remember, next time you go somewhere, bring a memory home with you.
